One of the concerns regarding the automation of sample management is the feedback that "automation is not progressing because the tubes do not have a two-dimensional barcode on the bottom." By adding a 360° rotation head to Liconic's automated biobank "BiOLiX" series tube picking robot, we can enable the reading of barcodes on the side of the tubes. (The robot supports both 1D and 2D barcodes.)
