"Sunforce" is a molded foam bead made from modified PPE resin, an engineering plastic developed by Asahi Kasei using its unique resin and foaming processing technology. In addition to its lightweight and thermal insulation properties, it has dramatically improved "flame retardancy" and "heat resistance," achieving "UL94 standard V-O," which was difficult with conventional foams. "Surface Coating Molding" is a technology that optimizes the mold temperature conditions during molding to achieve (1) the fusion of beads and (2) the melting and solidification of the product surface within one cycle, forming a coating of approximately 0.1mm to 2.0mm on the product surface. With a hard coating layer, it is possible to maintain the performance of expanded polystyrene (lightweight and thermal insulation) while combining aesthetics and durability. Traditionally, a separate sheet (such as resin) was required for the surface, but with this technology, molding can be done using only expanded polystyrene, allowing for the use of a single type of expanded polystyrene mold, which reduces initial costs.
