Free membership registrationQ. What is the recommended filling amount when using mica as a filler? A. This is actually a surprisingly common question, but there isn't a straightforward answer... Finding the right balance that maximizes the effectiveness of the filler without compromising the functionality of the resin is quite challenging. As the aspect ratio and average particle size change for different sizes, the physical properties of mica also vary slightly. For applications where you don't want any color to show, M grade (white mica) is recommended, while S grade (gold mica) is preferred if physical properties are the priority. Depending on the type of resin and its application, the grade, size, and filling amount will all change, so I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss the optimal filling amount in a meeting. Lastly, if we consider only the physical properties of mica without taking into account the type of resin or the thickness of the film, the larger the average particle size of mica, the better its physical properties tend to be, with a filling rate of 20% to 30% or more showing significant improvements in those properties. Please feel free to download the detailed information.

Free membership registrationRepcomica, known for its high aspect ratio, cannot provide all details, but we measure the average particle size using the method described below and calculate the aspect ratio by dividing the average particle size by the average thickness. If you would like to know more about the detailed method for calculating the aspect ratio, please feel free to contact us. Q. Particle Size Measurement Method A. We measure using laser methods and dry sieving methods. S Grade (Muscovite) S-150H, S-200HG M Grade (White Mica) M-60, M-200 The above are measured using the dry sieving method. S Grade (Muscovite) S-325, S-400, S-XF M Grade (White Mica) M-325, M-400, M-XF The above are measured using the laser method. Please feel free to download the detailed content. ↓↓↓↓↓↓↓

Free membership registrationQ. Please tell me your recommended grade. A. It's actually a surprisingly common question, but I can't give a definitive answer... The recommended grade can vary greatly depending on the intended use, such as: "What kind of application are you considering?" "What resin or paint are you planning to compound with mica?" "Are you concerned about color or the unique sparkle of mica?" "How much do you want to enhance the physical properties using mica?" I would like to know various pieces of information! I understand that there may be cases where you cannot disclose certain information, but I would like to hear as much detail as possible in order to propose the most suitable grade for you. Mica is mainly used as the NAO (Non-Asbestos Organic) material for brake pads. Since the discontinuation of asbestos in 1990, mica has been the filler that replaced it. With mica's unique moderate friction effect, it can prevent squeaking, reduce slipping, and eliminate abnormal noises. Repco mica is also used primarily in friction materials, as well as in rubber, mold release agents, and adhesives. Feel free to download for more detailed information. ↓↓↓↓↓↓↓

Free membership registrationHeat resistance Utilizing the heat-resistant properties to enhance the heat resistance of products. Additionally, it is advantageous that no physical property changes occur even under high temperatures during molding. Mica exhibits different physical properties against heat between phlogopite and muscovite. However, both possess strong heat-resistant properties. [Phlogopite] - Melting point: 1500°C - Dehydration start temperature: 800°C [Muscovite] - Melting point: 1200°C - Dehydration start temperature: 350°C As shown above, phlogopite has even stronger heat-resistant properties. Furthermore, it is gaining attention as a non-combustible filler. Mica has a high aspect ratio and excellent barrier properties. By using it as a filler, the non-combustible effect is achieved, which can enhance the fire resistance of paints and resins. Additionally, there are specially processed micas to further enhance their heat resistance. Please feel free to contact us. *The image shows data for "grade" and "percentage" during mica filling into PP. For more detailed information, please feel free to download. ↓↓↓↓↓↓↓

Free membership registrationThe performance itself is not particularly high, but it refers to plastics (thermoplastic plastics) that are inexpensive and used/consumed in large quantities for everyday items. It features a relatively simple structure (composed only of a main chain of carbon), heat resistance of about 100°C, and the ability to change shape freely. It accounts for about 80% of Japan's plastic production. Types of general-purpose plastics include: PVC (polyvinyl chloride), PS (polystyrene), ABS, AS, PMMA (acrylic), PE (polyethylene), PP (polypropylene), etc. The representative general-purpose plastics that are particularly produced and consumed in large quantities are commonly referred to as the "five major general-purpose plastics": PVC, PE (HD-PE, LD-PE), PS, and PP. It also has good compatibility with mica, and is used as a filler in various resins. *We handle various sizes and grades of mica products, focusing on gold mica (S grade) and white mica (M grade).
