Schunk Transit Systems, a German manufacturer of ultra-fast automatic charging solutions for commercial EVs, including electric buses, has conducted a site visit to the European Pangraph Charging City with Japanese bus operators and power companies in March 2024 through its Japanese subsidiary, Schunk Carbon Technology Japan. A report on this visit has been published in Bus Rama No. 204 (scheduled for release in June 2024). The smart charging system, which is highly compatible with automation and digital transformation (DX), is expected to contribute to solving various challenges associated with electrification, such as labor shortages and space constraints. With our 3D printing technology, we redefine the traditional shapes of silicon carbide (RBSiC) and the applications and fields it has been used in, enabling the emergence of next-generation technologies. For the first time, we have been able to manufacture silicon carbide with hardness comparable to diamond as a ceramic component using 3D printing with IntrinSiC(R). By utilizing this 3D printing technology, new freedoms in design and engineering are created. For example, undercuts and cavities can be realized, and designs and shapes can be easily modified with a mouse click on a computer. There is no need for time-consuming mold fabrication at all. The RBSiC material stands out due to its thermal shock resistance, advanced oxidation and corrosion resistance, high bending strength and creep resistance, and its industry-leading high density.
