Glass cloth is often used in applications such as cutting and laminating during molding processes. However, fraying at the edges of the cut cloth, misalignment between the layers of laminated cloth, and the potential for quality defects and fiber debris can worsen the working environment. Currently, methods such as applying liquid resin during pretreatment or laminating with hot melt sheets are being used, but both approaches are cumbersome. Additionally, since the resin adheres to the entire surface, there is a risk of hindering the permeability of the matrix resin. Nitto Boseki has developed a glass cloth (Glass Cloth DOT) that addresses the above issues, requiring no preparation in the molding process, preventing fraying during cutting, avoiding misalignment during lamination, and can be used directly for the molding of preforms. It is flexible and allows for good permeability of the matrix resin.

The multifunctional coating "D-ALIGN" is a new functional processing coating achieved through dot-shaped (discontinuous) coating. It allows for functional processing without compromising the properties of the base material, such as flexibility, breathability, and stretchability, and is compatible with thin fabrics, coarse fabrics, and filter fabrics. Additionally, it can add new functions without impairing the inherent flame retardant and water-repellent properties of the base material, enabling the application of multiple different functions. The industry's first "biodegradable double-dot" adhesive interlining in filament type has been co-developed! Nitto Boseki Advantex and Bioworks began joint development of adhesive interlining in 2022 to provide various biodegradable textiles, and in January 2024, they are developing a "biodegradable double-dot" adhesive interlining made from fabric using "PlaX" and an adhesive made from polylactic acid (PLA). They have also been working on the development of the filament type, which has been highly requested by the market, and have now completed a 75-denier interlining.
