Eve Autonomy Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has commenced the introduction and operation of the automated transport service "eve auto" at the Anesaki Plant of Prime Polymer Co., Ltd. in collaboration with Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. Eve Autonomy is advancing the automation of transport processes both indoors and outdoors by leveraging cutting-edge autonomous driving technology, with the keyword "Automation Starts Today." "eve auto" is an automated transport service newly developed to meet the needs for automation in transport within closed spaces, including indoor and outdoor environments, featuring a small EV capable of autonomous driving, along with operational support and vehicle maintenance packaged together. To date, trial operations have been conducted at multiple factories of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. Eve Autonomy plans to officially start providing the "eve auto" service around this autumn. Eve Autonomy, a subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., has been providing automated transportation services for factories at its Hamakita plant since 2020. Recently, it has started operations at its second location, the Iwata South Plant, from late March 2021. At the Hamakita plant, where development of a new compact prototype vehicle is underway, the company has been using a land car-based prototype vehicle since 2020 to offer transportation services between buildings from the machining process to the heat treatment process. At the Iwata South Plant, the company has developed a new compact model based on the insights gained from the Hamakita plant, which will be used to transport products between buildings from the casting process to the machining process. The new vehicle achieves a 30% reduction in size compared to the land car, making it suitable for automated transportation services in narrow aisles and spaces within buildings. Additionally, by removing the rear seats and creating a cargo space, the vehicle can be used in ways other than just towing carts, which was previously unnecessary for factory automated transportation. Furthermore, in addition to hardware updates, the company has developed a new remote "call application" on the software and application side, enabling more flexible operations on-site.
