Free membership registrationThere are many forms of intellectual property (IP) defense, some of which may seem unconventional or counterintuitive at first glance. The act commonly referred to as "public technical reports" falls into this category, but it serves a specific valuable purpose as a weapon of intellectual property. Choosing to publish a technical report instead of filing a patent application can, depending on the situation, be the best course of action. However, using this IP defense strategy requires a certain level of caution. This caution begins with understanding both the internal and external aspects of this strategy. *For more details, you can view the related links. Free membership registrationCounterfeits and pirated goods are sometimes referred to as "victimless crimes." However, while the piracy and counterfeiting of high-profit products like software may not lead to violence or physical harm, there are certainly victims involved. Moreover, the impact of such harm can extend far beyond just software developers. In 2020, apparel companies suffered the dishonor of losing approximately $26 billion in direct sales due to counterfeits. Indeed, counterfeit software poses significant risks in a technology-driven world. To address this issue, it is essential to fully understand the problem and protect the underlying intellectual property (IP) in the process. This begins with distinguishing between pirated software and counterfeit software. *For more details, you can view the related links. Please feel free to contact us for more information.*

Whether your company is a multinational corporation or a newly established startup, without a solid protection strategy, your company's brand image becomes vulnerable to false representation, reputational damage, and even a lack of definition and consistency. A strong brand protection strategy is built on the foundation of intellectual property (IP) rights and an awareness of how to effectively leverage them. Free membership registrationUsing unlicensed images in personal blog posts that are not for commercial purposes may not seem like the end of the world. However, using them for product packaging, corporate websites, or marketing materials is a completely different issue. If the usage is discovered, it won't take long before a cease-and-desist letter arrives from the copyright holder. Using copyrighted images without the appropriate license is one of the most common forms of intellectual property (IP) infringement, and its impact can escalate quickly. Free membership registrationRegistering trademarks, patents, and other important intellectual property (IP) assets is essential for legally protecting ideas and is also important for financial revenue. For some organizations, establishing intellectual property rights and allowing others to use them through licensing agreements can become a significant source of income. By learning the finer points of IP licensing, it is possible to maximize the value derived from intangible assets. A comprehensive licensing agreement can yield profits that far exceed expectations, while an overly lenient contract can result in neutral or even negative outcomes. *For more details, please refer to the related links. Free membership registrationEvery year, millions of tons of plastic flow into rivers and oceans, threatening wildlife and polluting water sources. Because plastic does not decompose naturally, this problem only worsens over time. Unless plastic is removed from water around the world, these pollutants will remain for centuries and continue to cause harm. Fortunately, innovative thinkers around the globe are developing ways to address this issue. Improving the quality of marine and river water, as well as maintaining the quality of less polluted water bodies, is key to the long-term health of the environment and society. Let’s focus on inventions that contribute to the sustainability of aquatic ecosystems and the intellectual property rights that protect their research and development. *For more details on the blog, please refer to the related links. Free membership registrationThe process from patent application to acquisition can take years, even if it is swift. During this time, it is natural for inventors and organizations to seek ways to prevent unauthorized reproduction of their creative activities and to build a foundation for when their "ongoing" intellectual property rights come to fruition. The term "patent pending" should be familiar to people in English-speaking cultures, but its exact meaning is often ambiguous. To make the most of the intellectual property framework and avoid pitfalls, it is important to understand when, how, and where these terms are positioned within the patent application process. *For more details about the blog, you can view it through the related links. However, to offset the gigatons of carbon dioxide emitted by airlines in 2019, concrete and near-future solutions are necessary. Free membership registrationSocial media has permeated modern life, and it has become a given that it plays an important role in marketing and sales. Promotional campaigns, brand awareness enhancement, recommendations, and sponsorships are all possible on collaborative platforms. However, unlike traditional media with strict regulations, there can be ambiguous legal boundaries. In terms of print, television, radio, and proprietary websites, protection under intellectual property rights such as copyright and trademark rights is familiar to most companies. Free membership registrationWhy do some people wait in line for days to get the latest model of a mobile phone or neon-colored sneakers? Is it due to product quality, advertising effectiveness, the need to convey a specific image, or pure loyalty? Yes, it's all of that and more. This is because the intellectual property (IP) that supports all brands stirs our emotions as strongly as sales do. Customers seek brands that offer unique and reliable solutions, ones that reflect their desires and speak to them on a personal level. When branding is done well, it can enhance a company's market value and transform its customer base into a fan base. *For more details about the blog, please refer to the related links. Free membership registrationA very common motivation for patent applications is the potential for subsequent licensing. Ultimately, patent applicants or owners have the option to sell or grant licenses for their intellectual property (IP) rights for various reasons. By granting one or more licenses, they can utilize the claimed invention without manufacturing or selling related products that may be impractical due to production capacity or distribution limitations. On the other hand, in licensing agreements with subcontractors, subcontractors can use protected processes or devices in specific regions without the risk of being sued for infringement. *You can view the detailed content of the blog through the related links. Free membership registrationWhen deciding how to protect newly developed technology, it is necessary to consider many factors, from the potential for licensing the invention to the pace of development and the level of competition within the industry. Before choosing either option to protect intellectual property, it is essential to fully understand the relative advantages and disadvantages of trade secrets and patents. A trade secret refers to confidential information about a product, service, or commercial process that is known only to a limited number of people. In contrast, a patent is a legal right that excludes others from using a certain invention, such as a machine, manufactured product, technical method, or industrial process, for a specified period. You must choose whether to obtain a patent and disclose the technology to gain legal rights that exclude others from using a certain invention, such as a machine, manufactured product, technical method, or industrial process, or to keep the components, ingredients, or design of the product confidential. *For more details, please refer to the full text via the related link.*

Free membership registrationAfter many years of efforts, a project for a unitary patent with a single effect across the entire European Union (EU) has become a reality, and all participating countries will fall under the jurisdiction of a single international court known as the Unified Patent Court (UPC). From the day the UPC begins operations, European patent holders will be able to apply for a unitary effect, allowing them to receive protection for their intellectual property rights in all participating countries. Conversely, a significant drawback is that limitations, transfers, cancellations, and waivers of rights will apply to all UPC member countries. However, European patent owners and applicants are allowed to opt out of the UPC's exclusive jurisdiction during a transitional period (initially 7 years, extendable up to 14 years). This option to opt out of UPC jurisdiction is called "opt-out" and remains valid throughout the duration of the European patent. If one does not opt out, there is a risk that a single lawsuit in the UPC could lead to the cancellation of the European patent, making the opt-out application a defensive strategy to prevent this. *For more details, please download the PDF or refer to the related links.*

Free membership registrationTrademark registration is typically valid for 10 years, so it is necessary to renew the trademark rights before the expiration of that period in order to maintain legal validity. To maintain trademark rights, it is necessary to submit a renewal application to the relevant patent offices (TMO), which is done through local agents designated and managed by our trademark renewal department. Additionally, when maintaining trademarks through local agents, there are registration agent rules such as "no need for agent change" and "optional." 【Registration Agent Rules】 ■ No need for agent change ■ Optional ■ Temporary agent change required ■ Mandatory agent change required *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
