In recent years, environmental protection and respect for human rights have become essential elements of corporate social responsibility. In this seminar, experts will provide detailed explanations on two particularly noteworthy themes regarding international efforts towards achieving a sustainable society. Additionally, Mr. Sakata from Iris Chitose Co., Ltd., an organization that has obtained FSC(r) COC certification, will present case studies. 1. EUDR* (European Union Deforestation Regulation): - Overview and objectives of the EUDR - Impact on companies and countermeasures - Importance of building a sustainable supply chain 2. Core labor requirements of FSC(r): - Protection of workers' rights in FSC certification - Perspective on respect for human rights in the global supply chain (FSC A000504) Through these themes, we will explore the challenges and countermeasures faced by companies. The environment surrounding machine safety is changing significantly due to advancements in automation, the utilization of IoT and AI technologies, and responses to cybersecurity, necessitating more advanced and comprehensive safety measures based on these trends. Additionally, the Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 was published in the EU Official Journal on June 29, 2023, and came into effect in EU member states on July 19, 2023. To meet the new safety requirements for equipment and machinery, the Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 will be applied starting January 20, 2027, following a transition period. In this seminar, we will invite Masao Mukadono, Advisor, Emeritus Professor, and Honorary President of the Alumni Association at Meiji University, to give a keynote speech on the fundamental concepts and trends of machine safety, as well as the trends in occupational health and safety, which is the purpose of machine safety. Bureau Veritas will introduce the changes from the Machinery Directive to the Machinery Regulation and the trends leading up to 2027.
