Unisoku was established in 1974 with the aim of becoming a creator of unique measuring instruments. It is a manufacturer that primarily develops and sells its own ultra-high vacuum scanning probe microscopes (SPM) to universities, public institutions, and private companies and research institutes. Over the years, it has developed and commercialized advanced measuring instruments such as high-speed spectroscopic measurement devices and scanning tunneling microscopes, delivering them to universities and research institutions both domestically and internationally, and its technological content has received high praise from researchers in the field of basic research. In recent years, scanning probe microscopes have significantly improved in performance and multifunctionality, particularly as a means of observing sample surfaces at the atomic level. Their applications are expanding mainly from the field of physics to chemistry and bio-related fields, making them indispensable tools in nanotechnology and nanoscience.
Business Activities
In the 1970s, Unisoku completed the fastest stop-flow device (dead time: 1 msec). It was the first in Japan to commercialize a multi-channel spectroscopic measurement device, and it has since achieved even faster reaction measurements. In 1983, it was the first in Japan to practically use an atmospheric tunnel microscope, contributing to research fields such as semiconductor devices, magnetics, and optical discs. Continuing development across a wide range of fields in physics, chemistry, and biology, it has commercialized products such as ultra-high vacuum tunnel microscopes, scanning near-field optical microscopes, ultra-high vacuum atomic force microscopes, and ultra-low temperature strong magnetic field probe microscopes, further expanding into additional research areas. The company also promotes applied research through collaborative studies with numerous researchers. In particular, it has achieved the industry's top delivery record for products related to ultra-high vacuum scanning tunneling microscopes. Additionally, it has developed a range of the latest products, including its own scanning probe microscopes that can be observed under extreme conditions (ultra-high vacuum, ultra-low temperature, strong magnetic fields) and a four-probe electrical characteristic measurement device developed as an application product of SPM, providing research tools useful for various fundamental and applied research.
