Company B was looking for an outsourcing partner for a sorting device for demonstration testing. In our company, during the COVID-19 pandemic when direct meetings were difficult, we prepared a proposal while confirming specifications remotely. Unfortunately, this project was awarded to another company due to cost considerations, but they seemed to like our proposal, which led to us receiving an order for the manufacturing of this power supply box in a separate project. It is a simple device that incorporates a commercially available power supply to drive the CPU board, and we are reducing costs by reusing as many off-the-shelf components as possible. Company C, which develops solution businesses in the social infrastructure sector, received an order for a system using a control panel that incorporates industrial design. However, the control panel only had an image created by an industrial designer, and it was unclear whether it could be commercialized. Therefore, they consulted with our company, which has a long-standing relationship and structural design capabilities, and we received the order. As a result, Company C's customers praised the system for eliminating the stiff image. We would like to introduce a case where we solved the challenges faced by Company D, which provides solutions related to social infrastructure. The company has a proven track record in the design and manufacturing of graphic panels for power systems aimed at electric power companies, and they chose us because we can commercialize products with simple design materials. There are various methods for cooling control panels, but air cooling using fans is also commonly used. However, the lifespan of cooling fans is generally around 40,000 hours. In social infrastructure products that are expected to be used for over 10 years, maintenance of fans is essential. In Company E's control panels, it is common to screw the fans onto the top panel, which has led to challenges with the labor involved in replacing the fans. Therefore, in response to Company E's challenges, we proposed a unit system that incorporates multiple fans, which was adopted. In wireless devices, circuit boards that handle tiny analog signals are sometimes placed in aluminum machined cases to separate them from other digital signals and ensure shielding effectiveness. Company F is looking for ways to reduce weight and costs while maintaining shielding effectiveness, and they consulted with us, a company with a proven track record in resin processing. In response, we proposed applying functional plating to a resin case to ensure shielding performance and initially received an order for a prototype. As a result, we contacted several plating companies, collaborated with the company we are currently working with on prototypes, and the effectiveness was confirmed through performance evaluations by Company F, leading to product commercialization. Company G manufactured electronic payment terminals through overseas ODM. However, during the evaluation of the prototype, non-conformities occurred based on Company G's quality standards. Due to the limited time before market launch, they consulted with us. In response, we proposed modifications and 100% inspection at our facility to address Company G's issues, and we received the order. As a result, Company G was able to launch the new terminals in the market without delays for their customers. Company H was looking for a company that could handle the design and manufacturing of various test substrates, adhesive application equipment, and the production of exhibition models in relation to the development of lithium-ion batteries. We received an inquiry from Company I regarding molded parts for infrastructure. While cost and quality of the parts are of course important, what was specifically requested this time was BCP (Business Continuity Plan) compliance. Since the equipment is expected to be in continuous production, a strong emphasis was placed on the continuity of parts supply. Given the recent abnormal weather, we must always consider the risk of being caught in a sudden disaster. Therefore, we assumed a scenario where manufacturing at our headquarters would be halted. We took preemptive measures such as preparing spare molds and, in anticipation of difficulties in manufacturing supply at headquarters, we decided to store two months' worth of inventory at Niigata Takawa as a response to potential disasters or troubles, which led to the order. During our sales activities, we received a consultation from a representative of Company J regarding difficulties with moving testing equipment within their premises. The company’s factory covers a vast area, and they faced challenges with the hassle of reservations, arrangements, and procedures for moving vehicles within the site. Therefore, we traced past rack manufacturing achievements on the sales side and discovered a rack produced for the same client but for a different product. With the client's permission, we reused the design and commercialized a mobile testing equipment rack. We received an inquiry for a dedicated harness from Company K, which manufactures social infrastructure equipment. As a result of competitive quotes from several companies, we received the order due to our proven track record in manufacturing similar harnesses and our cost evaluation. Additionally, our possession of general-purpose wiring checkers and pressure testing machines, which ensure product quality, was a decisive factor in securing the order. We received an inquiry from Company L, which manufactures social infrastructure equipment, regarding the transfer of production for radio cases (resin molded products) for railway operators due to thorough business outsourcing. The transferred mold was not compatible with our molding machines at the headquarters factory, so we urgently consulted one of our partner factories and secured a production line. We retrieved the mold and materials and brought them to the partner factory. However, it became clear that modifications to the mold were necessary, so we quickly made the necessary alterations. We produced a prototype and had it confirmed by the company. Subsequently, we received an order for the product from the company, and we managed to meet the delivery deadline and proceed with production. For many years, NEC has been engaged in the business of electron beam welding (EBW). Our company has been designing and manufacturing EBW equipment under commission from NEC, but as part of NEC's business restructuring, we took over the electron beam welding business in August 2020.
