A real-time operating system (RTOS) is an operating system that, instead of having the ease of use and flexibility of a general-purpose OS, is specialized in processing tasks within a specified time limit, even under worst-case conditions. Due to its characteristics, it is often used in systems where delays in processing cannot occur, particularly in embedded devices such as factory machinery, home appliances, and automobiles, where delays can directly lead to accidents.
