The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has made the following revisions regarding the "safety belt" used in high-altitude work in the construction industry and other sectors. ■ The "safety belt" has been changed to "fall arrest equipment." * The U-shaped suspension body belt, which was included in the conventional safety belt for work positioning, is not included in "fall arrest equipment." ■ The principle is to use "full harness type" for "fall arrest equipment." * If there is a risk that a user of the full harness type may reach the ground during a fall (at a height of 6.75m or less), the "body belt type (single suspension)" may be used. ■ Users of the full harness type are required to undergo "special safety and health education." * For work conducted at a height of 2m or more where it is difficult to set up a work platform, special education must be received when using the full harness type.
