Here, we introduce a work submitted to the 7th Dream Contest. We created a truncated icosahedron structure, consisting of 60 carbon atoms, inspired by fullerenes (soccer ball shape). I imagined the double helix structure of DNA and created a model. Except for the engraving of letters and windows, I created it by combining three types of macros without using CAD/CAM at all. One feature is that, since it is managed by macros, I can freely change everything from the thickness of the ribs to the twist angle with just one numerical value. Because the work is thin and long, the central part is prone to breaking, and due to its twisted shape, a fixed support cannot accommodate all angles. By devising the support, it is possible for the support to always be in contact with the workpiece at any angle. I successfully achieved a significant reduction in breakage!

This is the creation of a machining program for 3D shapes using Mastercam. We value the curiosity and playful spirit of "Oh, this is interesting!" While these may not always lead to work, sometimes unexpected ideas or technologies can emerge from them. The model of the electric drill in the photo started when I casually picked it up and thought, "Oh, this pattern is interesting," and I began modeling it by measuring with just a ruler, starting from a state with no drawings or anything.
