The Vaisala CARBOCAP® carbon dioxide (CO2) sensor, released in 1997, employs innovative technology. It features a silicon-based variable filter using Fabry-Perot interference (FPI) in a single-source dual-wavelength comparison infrared non-dispersive method. Boasting high reliability and stability, this sensor has been providing accurate CO2 measurements across a wide range of fields and applications, from building automation and safety to life sciences and environmental research, for over 15 years.

In 1997, Vaisala launched a new type of dew point sensor called DRYCAP, based on polymer thin film technology. The PEROXCAP measurement uses two Vaisala HUMICAP sensors. One has a catalytic layer, and the other does not. HUMICAP is a polymer film capacitive sensor that has a polymer thin film sandwiched between two electrodes on an alumina substrate. In the PEROXCAP measurement, the concentration of hydrogen peroxide vapor is indicated by the difference in the measurement values of the two sensors.
