The Royal Air Force (RAF) has introduced Wayland Additive's electron beam metal 3D printer, "Calibur3"!

Wayland Additive, the developer of the Calibur3 metal additive manufacturing device, has delivered the equipment to the AM center (Hilda B. Hewlett Center for Innovation) of the 71st Squadron (Inspection and Repair) based at the RAF Wittering in Cambridgeshire. The opening of this new AM center, equipped with world-leading 3D printers and scanning equipment, marks the first step the Royal Air Force has taken towards advanced parts manufacturing.
The AM technology introduced by the 71st Squadron is a new capability for the Royal Air Force, which will ultimately lead to significant advancements in the RAF's ability to design and manufacture its own aircraft spare parts as needed.
"The delivery of our technology to the Royal Air Force is an exciting event for all involved. The Calibur3 was developed to overcome common issues in metal additive manufacturing (AM) and utilizes the NeuBeam process, which provides all the advantages of metal electron beam powder bed fusion (EB-PBF) technology while overcoming troublesome problems that have traditionally limited a wider range of applications..."
