Biodiversity Activities: In-house Biotope Activities

At Ishigaki Store, we are working on creating an in-house biotope as part of our biodiversity conservation activities.
As the first step, we planted flowers on June 5th!
A biotope is a compound word from the Greek "bios" (life) and "topos" (place), meaning a space where living organisms exist in a natural state.
We aim to create an environment where small water bodies can host medaka fish, and flowers, trees, and insects can thrive, but our members still lack knowledge and experience...
With the help of employees who are knowledgeable about plants, we first planted flowers and hope that butterflies (such as the Asagimadara and the Ziegler butterfly) will come to our biotope!
We want to gradually expand the area and move closer to our goals.♪
