Remote control system using wireless LAN aims for energy saving and labor reduction (published in Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun)

Kubota, with the cooperation of Umeda Electric, a company specializing in automation equipment development, has introduced a remote control system utilizing a wireless LAN (Local Area Network) at its Hanshin factory, which manufactures cast iron pipes. The aim is to promote energy conservation and reduce manpower, starting with the remote opening and closing of air valves located in 17 places using this system. Additionally, experiments are being conducted for in-house broadcasting using the wireless LAN. In the future, the wireless LAN will also be utilized for monitoring power consumption and collecting information from control devices that manage production processes.
