We would like to introduce a case study of the design and development of a "DC/DC converter" built into a railway safety device that our company designed and developed. Initially, we planned to use standard products upon receiving the design request for the safety device. However, the customer expressed a desire to "also pass the device's signals through the cable supplying voltage to the device," which led them to consult us for a custom product. We designed and developed a converter that meets the customer's requirements, and they were very satisfied with the result. This is a case study of a DC/DC converter (module for VME 3U size) that supports ultra-wide input. At the customer's request, they wanted to cover multiple models with DC24V/48V/72V/110V, but due to cost issues and the complexity of purchase management, they consulted about wanting to consolidate into one model. Additionally, for overseas products, it was necessary to switch control circuits for each input voltage range.
