Kaspersky GReAT has identified that a new HackingTeam spyware has been active after several years of silence.
Tokyo, November 13, 2025 - (JCN Newswire) - Kaspersky's Global Research and Analysis Team (GReAT) has revealed evidence linking Memento Labs, the successor to HackingTeam, to a new cyber espionage attack.
This was discovered during the investigation of Operation ForumTroll, an advanced APT (Advanced Persistent Threat) attack that exploits a zero-day vulnerability in Google Chrome.
In March 2025, Kaspersky GReAT uncovered the existence of Operation ForumTroll. This operation is a sophisticated cyber espionage campaign that exploits the Chrome zero-day vulnerability CVE-2025-2783.
The method involved sending phishing emails disguised as invitations to the Primakov Readings forum, with content varying for each recipient, targeting Russian media, government organizations, educational institutions, and financial institutions.
