basic information
**Course Overview** In the context where most of the batteries installed in plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles are lithium-ion batteries, battery manufacturers are working day and night to improve materials in order to enhance the performance and reduce the costs of lithium-ion batteries. However, since the batteries used in plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles are utilized as battery packs, it is difficult to meet the demands solely through improvements in the active materials of the positive and negative electrodes, separators, and electrolytes of lithium-ion battery cells. Therefore, battery management technology is essential. This seminar will introduce the challenges faced by lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles, the corresponding countermeasures, key points for developing them as battery packs, and recent trends in EV performance and pricing observed among manufacturers.
