High-temperature brazing is commonly used for complex-shaped stainless steel components. It is also used for products made of nickel alloys, copper alloys, and diamonds. Brazing applications are utilized in fields that require high strength, high fatigue strength, corrosion resistance, and oxidation resistance, such as in automobiles, industrial equipment, and tools. [Examples of Applications] ■ EGR Cooler The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) cooler is a type of heat exchanger primarily used to suppress the amount of oxygen in the cylinder of diesel engines. Part of the exhaust gas is cooled in the EGR cooler and then recirculated back into the cylinder. The EGR cooler is used in extremely harsh environments and requires high corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance. ■ Heat Exchanger Provided by Honeywell Heat exchangers used in automobiles and industrial equipment utilize copper-based, nickel-based, and iron-based filler materials for brazing. Nickel-based fillers are recommended when high corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance are particularly necessary. The newly developed iron-based brazing filler material is a low-cost alternative to nickel-based materials.
