We propose semi-custom CAD data management and bill of materials management. The maintenance costs, based on the premise of long-term use, are unique to purely domestic manufacturers. CAD manufacturer PDM (CAD data and configuration management systems) provides a framework that enables many extended functions for their own CAD systems. By using CAD/PDM from the same manufacturer, many extended functions can be utilized, but it is said that the most commonly used functions account for 90% of the basic features. Additionally, to enable extended functions, close collaboration between CAD and PDM (such as version unification) is necessary. Upgrading PDM is "mandatory" for CAD version upgrades, and issues such as rising management costs (migration costs, verification of customized parts, etc.) and vendor lock-in are being raised as concerns.
