Graphite has a structure where carbon atoms (C) are arranged in a regular hexagonal pattern. This structure has strong bonds in the horizontal direction, while in the vertical direction, the bonding forces are weak, which gives it low friction properties. Graphite is a very stable material and is mainly used in environments where fluoropolymer and molybdenum disulfide cannot be used.
