Maxon Motor has announced the new product EC 22 HD (Heavy Duty) as part of its standard product lineup, pioneering the world with its ability to withstand harsh conditions. The brushless motor EC 22 HD, developed under extremely high demands in deep drilling technology, can endure environments so harsh that conventional motors cannot operate.

The EC22 HD is available in two versions for operation in a normal air environment and in oil, with a rated output of 80W for the air environment and up to 240W for the oil environment due to its high heat dissipation. The operating temperature range is up to 200°C, and it has a pressure resistance of 1,700 bar. Furthermore, this 22mm diameter motor has a vibration resistance of up to 25 grms and can withstand shock forces of up to 100 times the force of gravity, or 100G (approximately 2G in an F1 car and about 13G in a fighter jet). The efficiency is 88% for the air environment and over 70% for the oil environment, making it ideal for battery-powered applications. Thanks to its cogging-free feature, it enables high-precision position control even at low speeds.
