basic information
**[1. Lecture Summary]** This lecture will introduce the fundamentals and applied research of photocatalysts, as well as photocatalytic products that have already been commercialized. Regarding fundamental and applied research, it will cover photocatalytic materials with nanostructures (nanofibers, nanotubes), anti-reflective films with self-cleaning functions, anti-fouling films using photocatalytic nanosheets, photocatalytic printing, and photocatalytic air purifiers. It will also explain examples of photocatalytic products that have already been commercialized in Japan and around the world. **[2. Lecture Summary]** Photocatalysts that promote useful reactions such as the decomposition of dirt have been put to practical use in outdoor building materials and air purification devices using ultraviolet lamps. However, to create purification devices that utilize indoor light for environmental purification or energy-efficient blue LEDs, the development of visible light-responsive photocatalysts is progressing. The lecture will discuss the types of visible light-responsive photocatalysts, their reaction mechanisms, and the actual applications of these technologies.
