basic information
**Lecture 1: Purpose of the Course** As a measure against the heat island phenomenon that contributes to global warming, and also in light of the recent focus on nuclear power issues leading to a reassessment of the energy supply and demand balance, there is an increasing demand for energy-saving paints, specifically heat-reflective and insulating paints. Hollow glass beads, which serve as functional fillers, impart heat-reflective and insulating properties to these energy-saving paints. This lecture will explain the characteristics of hollow glass beads, the mechanisms by which they provide functions such as heat-reflective and insulating properties, and the conditions necessary to maximize their effects. It will also provide guidelines for applying hollow glass beads as components in heat-reflective and insulating paints. **Lecture 2: Purpose of the Course** Automobiles run on gasoline as fuel. Improving fuel efficiency could potentially reduce carbon dioxide emissions. We have researched the enhancement of solar heat reflectivity in automotive exterior paints. By increasing the reflectivity of the paint, we have demonstrated that automotive fuel efficiency improves, leading to a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.
