basic information
**Abstract of the Lecture** Clay polymer composite films have been widely used since ancient times, but due to recent demands for heat resistance and high gas barrier properties, their performance has been reevaluated, leading to active development primarily in Japan. We focus on films with a high mixing ratio of clay (clay films) and their excellent heat resistance and gas barrier properties, while concurrently developing raw materials, materials, and applications. In this lecture, we will outline the manufacturing methods, characteristics, and applications of clay films, introduce recent developments—particularly transparent heat-resistant films, films for solar cells, and water vapor barrier materials—and envision future prospects.
