basic information
**Lecture 1: Summary of the Presentation** Many batteries have been developed as means to store electricity over the years. Recently, high-energy-density lithium-ion batteries (LI batteries) have been developed and have become widespread as power sources for mobile phones and laptops, with further applications being explored for electric vehicle batteries, among others. This presentation will deepen understanding of the basic properties and characteristics of water-soluble sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, which has recently been recognized as a useful binder for binding active materials to the electrode substrate during the manufacturing of LI battery components, using actual samples. Additionally, it will introduce the current status of research and development efforts to meet customer quality requirements. **Lecture 2: Purpose of the Presentation** Currently, in the development field of lithium-ion secondary batteries, there is growing attention on silicon anode active materials with high energy density. This presentation will discuss the relationship between the types of binders, the shape of the fabricated anode films, and the battery characteristics, focusing on silicon anode active materials and CMC (carboxymethyl cellulose) binders, while presenting recent data on their features and issues.
