The "same key system" allows multiple padlocks to be locked and unlocked with a single key. Each padlock and key are identical, so any key can be used to lock and unlock all padlocks. The "master key system" allows multiple different padlocks to be locked and unlocked with a master key. Each padlock can only be locked and unlocked with its individual key and the master key. The "same key-master key system" is a combination of the same key system and the master key system. Padlocks within each group (set) can be locked and unlocked with the same key, but padlocks from different groups can only be locked and unlocked with the master key.
