It is a gas sensor with high sensitivity to hydrogen sulfide, VOCs, and ammonia.
The gas sensor consists of a metal oxide semiconductor formed on an alumina substrate along with an integrated heater. When detectable gases are present, the conductivity of the sensor increases as the concentration of that gas in the air rises. Using a simple electrical circuit, this change in conductivity can be converted into an output signal corresponding to the gas concentration. The TGS2602 is highly sensitive not only to tobacco smoke and cooking odors but also to hydrogen sulfide, VOCs, and ammonia. By using relative value detection (which detects air pollution based on how much the sensor's resistance changes from a baseline of clean air), it achieves control that is closer to human perception. ◆ For more details, please contact Figaro Engineering directly.
