This is a technical booklet from Nitto Metal Industry Co., Ltd. Here, we introduce the specifications published by the American Welding Society (AWS). These specifications address visual inspection requirements for welded surfaces that are certified and those that are used as-welded. Four surface class classification zones are defined based on risk for welded surfaces present in sanitary containers, and guidelines for welding finishes specifying the required welding finish for these zones are provided.
