basic information
**Part 1: Summary of the Lecture** The technology in question enables the production of biofuels using solar energy as the energy source and CO2 or organic matter as raw materials (carbon sources), making it possible to establish an environmentally harmonious energy production system. This lecture will outline the potential of biofuels derived from microalgae, which may play a role in third-generation biofuels, as well as the benefits of entering this field, based on trends both domestically and internationally. **Part 2: Summary of the Lecture** Microalgae were key players in fixing the high concentrations of carbon dioxide that existed on ancient Earth, leading to the creation of energy resources such as oil. If we can fully utilize their capabilities, it will be possible to realize a circular energy society. This time, I will introduce Denso's efforts to advance research and development, taking steps closer to the realization of such a society. **Part 3: Overview of the Lecture** Using microorganisms isolated in our laboratory, we explored methods for efficiently producing bioethanol from seaweeds, particularly brown algae such as kombu. Establishing technology to efficiently manufacture bioethanol using seaweeds that grow in spaces other than our land, in a country lacking energy resources, is certainly not a waste.
