basic information
In the cubicle-type high-voltage receiving equipment, the system short-circuit capacity is specified as 150 MVA, and the short-circuit current is 12.5 kA. With a current transformer of 20A/5A, the overcurrent multiplication factor becomes 625 times. Generally, commercially available standard current transformers have an overcurrent strength of 40 times/1 second, so if such a current transformer is used, it may not be possible to operate the overcurrent relay as set during a short-circuit accident, leading to the potential for a significant accident along with a cascading failure. From these perspectives, there is a demand for the development of current transformers that match the tripping characteristics of high-voltage private substations (circuit breakers or overcurrent relays). We have developed a compact, lightweight, economical, and highly reliable current transformer that meets mechanical and thermal strength requirements with rated loads of 10 VA, 25 VA, or 40 VA. This current transformer has been registered as a current transformer for high-voltage receiving equipment by the Japan Electric Association's Cubicle-Type Emergency Power Supply Certification Central Committee and the High-Voltage Receiving Equipment Recommendation Central Committee, and it is a successor product to the ECT-12.5KA series. Hirai offers two types: one that shares 12.5 kA/0.16 seconds, 0.125 seconds, and 8 kA/0.25 seconds, 0.16 seconds, 0.125 seconds, and another type that targets only 12.5 kA/0.25 seconds.

Company information
Our company's history began on February 11, 1921, when our founder, Daisuke Hirai, established a sole proprietorship in Osaka. During World War II, we relocated to Kyoto at the request of Shimadzu Corporation, which was a military supply company for the country. In February 1952, after the war, we established the current company, built and relocated our headquarters and factory in Kyoto, and completed the technology for epoxy molded transformers. In August 2019, we opened a new production base called "Reiwa Keihanna Business Office." In 2020, we obtained ISO 9001 certification, and in February 2021, we celebrated our 100th anniversary by receiving the "66th Shibusawa Award" sponsored by the Japan Electric Association, marking a significant new step forward. Furthermore, without resting on our laurels, we are committed to continuing the fusion of the technologies and innovations we have cultivated over the years to create products that transcend traditional business fields. As a company, we aim to contribute to society by becoming an enterprise capable of supporting various "infrastructures" surrounding society and nurturing the technology and human resources that will carry "Japan's future."
