Different subsidence countermeasures: Ground replacement method "Columbus+"
Ground Replacement Method Columbus+
"Super soft ground" can be handled even with an N value of "0"!
【(Foundation) Better Living's experiment has demonstrated the effectiveness of vibration reduction】 【The Hokkaido Northern Architecture Comprehensive Research Institute has verified and evaluated the insulation and frost prevention effects】 【Patent construction method】 The ground replacement method "Columbus+" removes heavy soil beneath the foundation and replaces it with lightweight and compression-resistant "Geoform," reducing the weight of the building on soft ground and suppressing settlement. Furthermore, it balances with the ground to prevent uneven settlement that causes the building to tilt and sink. It is safe even on extremely soft ground with deep support layers. ○ Pre-cut Geoform is delivered according to the construction drawings. ○ We guarantee damages to the foundation and building due to uneven settlement. Up to 50 million yen for 10 years. ○ A track record of 4,000 cases nationwide, from public projects to private homes (as of August 2020). ○ Offices and agents are expanding nationwide. A local representative will visit to explain. ○ Estimates are free of charge. ○ For more details, please contact us or download the catalog.

basic information
【N value = 0 ultra-soft ground support】 There is a method called "floating foundation method," which is fundamentally the same concept as the Columbus+ method. It is designed so that the total weight of the building matches the weight of the excavated soil from the basement and foundation area. The Columbus+ method also reduces the weight of the building acting on the ground by excavating the soil beneath the foundation, replacing it with geofoam, and thus lightening the building's weight on the ground. As a result, the amount of settlement is significantly reduced. 【What is geofoam?】 ○ It is a lightweight fill material formed using materials such as expanded polystyrene (EPS) and expanded polypropylene through an in-mold foaming method. ○ It is extremely lightweight, weighing 1/100 of soil, yet possesses a compressive strength of 35KN/m² to 90KN/m². It is referred to as geofoam, including those with excellent oil and chemical resistance. ○ It has been confirmed to be durable, with no issues related to corrosion from microorganisms in the soil or damage from termites. ○ The size of geofoam blocks can be up to 1m x 2m x 0.5m thick, making them transportable even in narrow sites. 【Application range and conditions】 ○ Building weight: 6t/m² or less (suitable for wooden to RC structures up to 3 or 4 stories) ○ Must be a flat foundation. ○ Can accommodate N value = 0.
