basic information
**Part 1: Lecture Summary** With the advancement of science and technology and the increasing momentum for energy conservation, power electronics have progressed not only in household and industrial electrical equipment but also in many fields such as renewable energy generation, automobiles, and railway vehicles. Additionally, pulse power is being applied in areas such as medical and material modification. Many of the capacitors used in these applications are film capacitors; however, for large-capacity applications, electric double-layer capacitors have recently gained attention as an alternative to aluminum electrolytic capacitors. This section will explain the basics of capacitors for industrial equipment, focusing on the performance, characteristics, safety, and application examples of the aforementioned capacitors, and will introduce the role and trends of capacitors in environmental and energy issues. **Part 2: Lecture Summary** Film capacitors are formed by winding a film that has been vapor-deposited with metals such as aluminum and zinc, using the metal film as the opposing electrode and the film as the dielectric. Traditionally, film capacitors have excelled in high-voltage applications, but advancements in substrate technology, deposition technology, and element formation technology have enabled them to meet the demands for large capacitance as well. This paper will introduce the latest manufacturing processes for power capacitors, focusing on vacuum deposition equipment.
