Duplex is a high-strength, high-corrosion-resistant stainless steel that combines both austenitic and ferritic structures. The mixing ratio is approximately 50%:50%. It has nearly twice the strength of SUS304 and SUS316, allowing for thin-walled and lightweight piping designs. Additionally, it has strong resistance to pitting corrosion caused by seawater, superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking compared to general austenitic steels, and good pitting resistance. By adding elements such as molybdenum (Mo) and nitrogen (N) in addition to chromium and nickel, it offers a wide range of corrosion resistance and price options from lean duplex steel class to super duplex steel class.
