This is a substrate that combines the advantages of rigid substrates and flexible printed circuit boards (FPC), such as ease of component mounting and three-dimensional arrangement through bending. It is typically composed of a rigid section for mounting components and a flexible section for bending. The rigid section consists of all layers stacked together, with each layer connected by through-holes (TH). In cases of high-density circuits, the build-up method is applied in this part. Additionally, since the rigid substrate and flexible printed circuit board (FPC) are integrated, connectors for inter-board connections are unnecessary. Connections between boards can be made without connectors. Thus, rigid flexible printed circuit boards (rigid FPC) can have diverse configurations, and it is technically possible to handle all wiring for a single electronic device with one multilayer rigid flexible printed circuit board (multilayer rigid FPC). Various shapes, such as foldable types and bookbinder types, are also manufactured.
