Plasma spraying is widely applied to improve heat resistance, thermal insulation, and to impart functions such as reaction prevention to various industrial machinery and products like LCD and semiconductor devices. This spraying method is a type of surface modification technique that forms a coating by spraying particles that have been melted or partially melted using a heat source onto a substrate. From the perspective of production efficiency, increasing the capacity of spraying equipment is highly advantageous. Therefore, we conducted research and development aimed at improving the quality of the sprayed coating and productivity through equipment development, selection of suitable spraying materials, and setting of spraying conditions. As a result, we achieved a film formation speed approximately 30 times faster than that of conventional plasma spraying equipment. The research and development of sprayed coatings using this high-capacity plasma spraying equipment not only leads to cost reductions through increased speed and productivity of the spraying process but also makes it easier to control the porosity of the sprayed coatings, thereby imparting high-performance functions to the substrate.
