**Lecture Summary** If a structure is obtained by filling the cells of a foamed polymer with silica aerogel, known as a high-performance thermal insulation material, it is expected to become a high-performance insulation material with excellent flexibility, workability, durability, and environmental compatibility. We have developed a method to create such a structure at low cost by controlling the phase equilibrium of carbon dioxide, silicon alkoxide, and polymer under high pressure. This lecture will introduce an overview of the thermal insulation properties of the foamed polymer-silica nanocomposite insulation material created using this method.
