Glass fabric-based epoxy resin laminated sheets are made by stacking a predetermined number of substrates (called prepreg) that have been impregnated with epoxy resin into glass fabric, and then pressing them under high pressure while applying high temperatures. This results in glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP: Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic). [Alternative Example] Due to a specific gravity of about 1.8, it can be used as an alternative in situations where stainless steel (specific gravity ≈ 8.0) parts are employed for rust and corrosion prevention. Result: Achieved nearly 80% weight reduction.   Bending strength The bending strength of a 1mm thick test specimen is 450 megapascals. Many GFRP products are molded products based on thermoplastic resins. In contrast, glass cloth-based epoxy resin laminates are made by applying high heat to a substrate based on thermosetting resins while pressing at high pressure, resulting in excellent mechanical strength.

  Examples of insulation used around coils (image) are often adopted in a way that they are machined into parts requiring mechanical strength and installed in places where metal would be inconvenient.

  Examples of processing into insulating spacers Many GFRP products are molded using molds, but products made from glass fabric-based epoxy resin are obtained by "machining" from the material to achieve the desired shape.

  Industrial winding core This is a hollow structure winding core that is coupled via a flange to a tube that matches the chuck of the winding machine and a tube that is optimal in size for winding. To address wrinkles, it is necessary to increase the size of the winding core, but the increase in weight becomes an issue. With a glass epoxy winding core, these problems can be solved simultaneously.
