**Preface** In recent years, agricultural covering materials have significantly improved in weather resistance, allowing them to be used for extended periods rather than just during low-temperature periods for insulation purposes. Furthermore, they have been enhanced with functions to control cultivation environments such as light and temperature, enabling more advanced environmental control, contributing to energy conservation, environmental protection, and the production of safe agricultural products. As large-scale management, including plant factories, becomes more widespread, the development and use of high-performance agricultural films are expected to receive increasing attention. While several books on facility covering materials have been published to date, many primarily describe the characteristics of various films. However, this book provides a detailed explanation from various perspectives by experts in the field, in collaboration with industry, government, and academia, covering the additives that create these characteristics and their effects, the mechanisms of new functional agricultural films, their application in facilities, applications in plant factories, and recent market trends.
