[Case Study] Belt inspection is the foundation of predictive maintenance activities in conveyor lines!
Belt inspection is the foundation of predictive maintenance activities on the conveyor line!
At the waste recycling plant, many conveyor belts are in operation and running continuously. During regular maintenance work, all conveyor belts are inspected for predictive maintenance. Until now, inspection work has been requested from the conveyor manufacturer, but due to high labor costs and some dissatisfaction with the inspection items, we have received inquiries. Issues: 1. The inspections conducted by the conveyor manufacturer are based on uniform inspection items, which do not correspond to the characteristics of the line, leading to dissatisfaction. 2. General machinery installation contractors may have little experience, making it difficult to trust them with the work. 3. We would like any repair work that can be done on-site (such as replacing worn parts) to be carried out simultaneously as much as possible.

basic information
At Kamata Industrial, we have traditionally conducted inspection work for conveyors and belts across various industries and sectors. This time, we started by checking the site and, in consultation with the customer, created an inspection menu and inspection sheet. In particular, we set up the inspection to be more detailed than the conventional menu, especially for checking the deterioration of the belt and the tension of the chain. Additionally, we prepared in advance to perform minor tasks that could be addressed on-site simultaneously with the inspection work (such as roller replacement, belt cleaner replacement, skirt height adjustment, sprocket alignment correction, chain tension increase, and tracking adjustment). The report clearly states the values and conditions before inspection, after replacement, and after adjustment work, so that it can serve as a reference for future parts replacement schedules. Key Points: 1. Perform parts replacement work simultaneously with inspection work. 2. In addition to measuring the remaining thickness and checking the endless part of the belt, also confirm the condition of the cleats and the degree of surface hardening.
