Coatings are applied by thermal spraying to provide environmental protection against chemicals for chemical equipment and devices.
Thermal spraying is a surface modification technology that uses various heat sources to melt and spray materials such as metals, ceramics, and cermets onto a substrate surface to form functional coatings. When metal materials are exposed to various chemical environments, phenomena occur where mass is reduced or changes due to chemical reactions. In chemical equipment and devices, thermal spraying is performed to achieve environmental barrier protection against chemicals. However, because thermal spray coatings have pores, they cannot provide 100% environmental barrier protection. Consideration of the material properties is necessary. 【Chemical Resistance】 ○ Chromia ○ White Alumina ○ Alumina-Titania ○ Titania ○ Zirconia For more details, please contact us.

basic information
**Typical Ceramic Chemical Resistance** ○ Chromia: Dense and hard, can be finished to a mirror surface → Resistant to acids and alkalis, used for chemical-resistant coatings below 200°C ○ White Alumina: Significant strength reduction above 1000°C → Excellent oxidation resistance, chemically stable, and has superior corrosion resistance to acids and other chemicals → Low reactivity with molten metals → Relatively high thermal conductivity, but large thermal expansion coefficient results in lower thermal shock resistance ○ Alumina-Titania: Improved toughness with TiO2 addition → In plasma spraying, a glass phase exists within the coating, used for chemical-resistant applications below 540°C ○ Titania: Good wear resistance below 500°C → Relatively low melting point, good melting properties yield a dense coating → Insoluble in concentrated sulfuric acid and acids other than alkalis, exhibiting excellent chemical corrosion resistance and used in anti-corrosion solvents ○ Zirconia → Stabilized by adding 6-7% CaO, up to 25% MgO, and up to 20% Y2O3 → High heat resistance and corrosion resistance, low thermal conductivity, used as insulation material → Large thermal expansion coefficient with minimal thermal expansion mismatch with metal substrates, allowing for high-temperature applications ● For more details, please contact us.
