It is a coating that inhibits the elements necessary for combustion (heat, oxygen, and flammable gases). There are three main types: an impregnation type for absorbent materials, a powder mixing type that can be blended into resins, and a coating type for existing materials, which can be combined with other functional coatings for various applications. Combustion requires a chain of three elements: heat, flammable gases, and oxygen, and it is said that if any one of these elements is missing, combustion will not occur. The FCU-DFC series can suppress combustion by employing gas phase control (suppressing thermal decomposition in the early stages of combustion, diluting flammable gases, blocking oxygen, and cooling) and solid phase control (diluting and blocking flammable gases in the mid to late stages of combustion, generating non-combustible char for insulation, and blocking oxygen). It has achieved "quasi-non-combustible" certification from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for structural plywood and "flame retardant" certification from the Japan Flame Retardant Association for activated carbon-treated products.
