basic information
This is a plate-type polarizing beam splitter with thin aluminum micro-wires applied to a glass substrate. Light incident on this product is split into p-polarized and s-polarized light due to the birefringent effect at the wire grid surface that makes up the aluminum wire mesh. When the incident light hits the wire grid surface, the p-component of the light enters the dielectric part and transmits, while the s-component of the light hits the mirror surface and is reflected. Unlike wire grid polarizers that only manage the optical properties of transmitted light (p-component), this product, designed as a "beam splitter," manages the transmission characteristics of both transmitted light (p-component) and reflected light (s-component). The design incident angle is also optimized at 45° for the purpose of extracting both separated lights.
