3D scanning can be utilized for various purposes, such as creating 3D CAD data from products that only exist in physical form, or digitizing freeform surfaces that cannot be fully captured in CAD by creating and scanning clay models. Traditionally, contact measurement methods were often used for inspection purposes, but these typically provided measurement results based on "points," involved large equipment, and required skilled operation, making them quite challenging. By using ATOS (non-contact), measurement results can be obtained based on "surfaces (areas)." Additionally, the simplification of operation has allowed for quicker inspection results. Inspections can be conducted on small items like molds and parts, as well as larger items like automobiles.
