Linear alkylbenzene sulfonic acid and its salts (LAS) are used as anionic surfactants in household laundry detergents and were newly added as environmental standards for the conservation of aquatic organisms in public water bodies on March 27, 2013. Due to the low concentration of the environmental standard set at 6-50 μg/L, the high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) method was designated for measurement as the first measurement method for the environmental standard.
