Naha City Kura Elementary School - Case Study of the Greenery Project with Super Soil Water Storage Function
We will introduce a case study of the artificial lightweight material "Super Sol," made from crushed and sintered waste glass, used for rainwater retention in schoolyards. The rainwater retention system utilizing Super Sol can maintain water quality without circulating the stored rainwater, allowing for low-cost installation and reduced running costs. It is used for irrigation of plants on a daily basis and can serve as emergency water during disasters, contributing to the conservation of water resources. This project was completed under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's "Frontier Project by Construction Companies." 【Case Study】 ○ Project Details: Greenery project with Super Sol water retention function at Furukawa Elementary School, Naha City ○ Usage Classification: Purification / Rainwater retention tank filling material / Schoolyard greening ○ Client: Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism ○ Location: Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture ○ Required Performance: Porous / Corrosion suppression For more details, please contact us or download the catalog.

"Super Sol," made by crushing and sintering waste glass, is a lightweight material with countless holes, characterized by its porous structure. It is an artificial lightweight aggregate with an irregular particle size ranging from 2 to 75 mm. There are products with varying specific gravities and water absorption rates to suit different applications. Composed of soil components, it is an eco-friendly product with an eco-mark. **Features of Super Sol:** - **Lightweight:** It is 1/6 to 1/5 the weight of soil, with a proven track record as a lightweight fill material. By combining it with crushed stone, the unit weight can be controlled between 4 kN/m³ and 11 kN/m³. - **Drainage:** It can be used as a drainage material in civil engineering and greening projects. - **Aeration and Water Retention:** It can be used as an inorganic soil amendment for greening. - **Workability:** Its lightweight nature makes it easy to handle, facilitating construction in distorted terrains and narrow spaces. Like crushed stone, it can be installed through spreading and compaction without the need for curing time or special techniques. - **Stability:** Being mineral-based and inorganic, it is physically and chemically stable and does not corrode. - **Safety:** Since it is made from naturally derived glass, Super Sol is also composed of soil components, making it a highly safe material for the surrounding environment.
