Utilization of small-scale distributed rice husk heat: "KoCona System" - A guide to a decarbonized and sustainable society built by agricultural innovation.
Rasa Industries has established a technology to crush "rice husks" into powder at low cost and in large quantities, as well as an energy utilization technology that burns the crushed material as fuel in a dedicated hot water generation device, providing a heat source for facilities such as hot spring baths and greenhouses. While it will be used as a crushed fuel, by manufacturing it at a lower cost than fossil fuels, it offers benefits to the heat utilization side, increases the calorific value of the rice husks themselves, homogenizes the fuel, and improves storage and transportation efficiency. Additionally, by burning and cooling it instantly, it does not generate crystalline silica (cristobalite). With the active movement towards expanding SDG investments, climate change measures, and environmental considerations as criteria for transaction selection, efforts for regional decarbonization are becoming a necessary condition. ◆ "Struggling with the disposal and use of rice husks" ◆ "Wanting a heat source to produce hot water for launching decarbonization projects" ◆ "Considering regional energy circulation within the community," etc. "Heat" ⇒ Supplied through the "Rice Husk Heat Utilization KoCona System" "Electricity" ⇒ Self-generated through solar power, wind power, etc. (excluding biomass) We aim to save Japanese agriculture, support community development in addition to energy demand, and contribute to the establishment of a Japanese version of "Stadtwerke."

basic information
The amount of agricultural waste known as "rice husks" is said to be about 2 million tons per year, occurring steadily and being dry, which gives it a high calorific value. In resource-scarce Japan, it becomes an important biomass resource that can replace wood. Currently, its uses include compost, drainage materials, and bedding, but the reality is that most of it is incinerated. If "rice husks" can be used as fuel and safely combusted for thermal utilization, it will enable the construction of a decarbonized society and a sustainable society. Rasa Industries, through its "Rice Husk Thermal Utilization System," aims to transcend conventional frameworks, linking agriculture with local facilities and industries, contributing to a decarbonized society and the achievement of the SDGs. 【Features】 ◆ Utilizes local materials (regional economic circulation, regional symbiotic zone) ◆ Reduction of CO2 emissions (decarbonized society) ◆ Creation of local employment and stimulation of movement of people within the region ◆ Local fuel prices are not influenced by external factors or regional circumstances ◆ Transformation into a resource and fuel-generating region that supplies energy and other resources to outside areas ◆ Potential for tourism demand (eco-tourism)

In February 2020, the system was introduced in Japan for the first time with the subsidy from the Ministry of the Environment's "Project to Promote the Introduction of Independent and Decentralized Energy Systems that Simultaneously Achieve Local Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and Low Carbonization." This system has been installed in a bathing facility in Akita Prefecture and is currently in operation. *Inspections can be arranged at any time, so please feel free to reach out.*
