basic information
Research on fruit flies, which is used in various studies, requires stopping their movement for any procedure. Therefore, anesthesia is used, and carbon dioxide anesthesia, which is said to have minimal effects among anesthesia methods, is commonly employed. The anesthesia platform is designed to allow carbon dioxide to flow throughout the entire surface, making it easy to work with insects such as fruit flies and silkworms. Silkworm anesthesia can be used for anatomical observations and experiments related to metamorphosis and hormone physiology. While carbon dioxide is being administered, the subjects are in an anesthetized state. They will start moving again about 30 seconds after the carbon dioxide is stopped. The gas released can be carbon dioxide or any other type of gas, allowing for various applications. Additionally, the entire setup is small and compact, making it suitable for observations under a microscope.
